NNSA GOVERNANCE ADVISORY PANEL TO MEET SEPT. 3

By ExchangeMonitor

The long-awaited first meeting of the Congressionally mandated National Nuclear Security Administration governance advisory panel will take place next week, NW&M Monitor has learned. The 12-member panel chaired by former Lockheed Martin CEO Norm Augustine and retired Strategic Command chief Richard Mies will meet Sept. 3 at the Alexandria, Va.-based Institute for Defense Analyses, which is serving as the support organization for the panel. During the meeting, the panel is expected to receive guidance from aides on the House and Senate Armed Services committees about their expectations for the study and establish a schedule for its work. The study has been delayed by funding complications due to the Continuing Resolution and sequestration, and lawmakers are likely to want to receive input from the panel in the spring of 2014—in time for its work to inform Fiscal Year 2015 legislation.
