Steven McAndrews is the National Nuclear Security Administration’s new deputy associate administrator for information management and deputy chief information officer, a senior agency official said.
McAndrews on Monday become the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) second in command at the office that among other things handles the “operational, technical, and administrative functions in support of NNSA’s Cybersecurity and Information Management Program,” according to the agency’s website.
McAndrews will replace Goodman Bellamy, the acting deputy associate administrator and chief information officer, who will remain with the nuclear-weapons agency as its associate chief information officer of mission integration, according to an email from Frank Lowery, the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) associate administrator for management and budget.
McAndrews was most recently the director of federal cybersecurity at the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he had worked for about two years. Prior to that, he worked at the Department of homeland Security and the Census Bureau. Prior to that he had stints with federal information technology contractors, mostly serving the Army, according to his LinkedIn profile.
McAndrews has a master’s in administration from Central Michigan University, which he earned in 2013, an associate’s degree in electronics technology from Chochie College, which he earned in 2009 and a bachelor in economics from Millersville University of Pennsylvania, which he earned in 2006, according to his LinkedIn profile.
