A new labor contract phased last week for about 900 Honeywell employees at the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Kansas City National Security Campus, the union announced.
Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 778 ratified a new tentative agreement with management Nov. 19, the local said on its website. Members never went on strike during negotiations, but could have first thing Nov. 20 had not they voted 529-62 to approve the contract.
The new contract gives workers at the plant “significant pension increases, company-paid short-term disability, additional vacation hours, an increase in paid absences, a shorter probationary period for new hires, and an increase in the number of Stewards,” Local 778 said.
The Kansas City facility produces non-nuclear components for U.S. nuclear warheads. The wholly owned Honeywell subsidiary Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies is the prime management and operations contractor for the plant under a contract awarded in 2015 and worth about $8 billion over 10 years, including options.
