The Department of Energy has named Mark Bollinger as its new acting deputy manager for the Carlsbad Field Office in New Mexico, which oversees the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.
Bollinger took over the No. 2 manager slot on March 14 at Carlsbad, reporting to manager Reinhard Knerr, according to a Twitter post last week from the prime contractor for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Bollinger is serving a 120-day detail as the second in command at Carlsbad, according to the website for the field office.
Bollinger comes to Carlsbad after being deputy site office manager for the DOE Fermi Site Office in Illinois since August of 2007.
Myles Hall has been acting deputy manager since July 2019 while serving double-duty as the legal counsel for the Carlsbad office, according to the Carlsbad website.
The last permanent deputy manager at Carlsbad was Kirk Lachman, who left that office in June 2020 after briefly serving as its acting manager, and became manager of DOE Office of Environmental Management operations at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
