NCC To Release CO2 Utilization Report

By ExchangeMonitor

The National Coal Council, an advisory board to the secretary of energy, is scheduled to host a webcast meeting Aug. 30 to accept a report from its Coal Policy Committee on CO2 utilization options. “As requested by Secretary [Ernest] Moniz, the NCC report is focused on profit-generating opportunities for CO2 utilization, both for geologic applications, such as enhanced oil recovery (EOR), enhanced water recovery (EWR) and enhanced coalbed methane (ECBM), and for non-geologic applications, such as fuels, fertilizers, building materials, plastics, inorganic/organic and specialty chemicals,” the latest NCC newsletter says.

The report will be available to the public in draft form on Aug. 25 on the NCC website. NCC members will finalize the report during the webcast.

The webcast is open to the public, but registration is required. Those interested in tuning in can register online.
