Moniz to Hold National Lab Day Tuesday

Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz is hosting a National Lab Day at the Dirksen Senate Office Building Tuesday, and the directors of 15 of 17 national labs are expected to attend, including the heads of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s three nuclear weapons laboratories. Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Jim Risch (R-Idaho) will also attend the event, which begins at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room G50 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Moniz will also moderate a roundtable discussion including former Lockheed Martin CEO and NNSA governance advisory panel co-chairman Norm Augustine, National Cancer Institute Director Harold Varmus, Cummins Vice President of Engineering Jennifer Rumsey, and Electric Power Research Institute Fellow Clark Gellings. The event will also feature technological demonstrations from various national laboratories.
