Here’s a look at a few events worth noting this week:
- The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will announce whether it is moving the minute hand on its famous “Doomsday Clock” at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Bulletin moved the minute hand on the clock, which it uses to represent how close the world is to destruction, back a minute to six minutes before midnight in 2010.
- The Nuclear Threat Initiative will unveil a country-by-country study of nuclear security conditions around the world at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the National Press Club.
- Several nuclear experts will appear at the Heritage Foundation at noon Wednesday for a discussion titled “After New START: Next Round?”
- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will meet in a private session Wednesday at 10 a.m. to discuss management and personnel issues following allegations of mismanagement levied against the agency’s chairman.
- On Thursday the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit is expected to hear oral arguments in the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ challenge to the Department of Energy’s continued collection of the Nuclear Waste Fee.
