- The biggest event of the week will come Tuesday when the Obama Administration releases top-line budget numbers about its Fiscal Year 2015 budget request to Congress. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz is expected to brief the media on DOE’s request at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the event will be streamed live at www.energy.gov/live;
- This year’s Waste Management Symposia is already underway in Phoenix. With speakers from the Department of Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and industry, the event will run through March 6;
- Nuclear deterrence will be the topic at a pair of Congressional hearings this week. Strategic Command chief Adm. Cecil Haney will appear before the House Armed Services Committee at 10 a.m. Tuesday, while the Senate Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee hosts a hearing on “Nuclear Forces and Policies” at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with four civilian and military leaders;
- Looking ahead to the Nuclear Security Summit later this month, Harvard University is hosting Laura Holgate of the National Security Council and two other nuclear security experts at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a discussion about “Preventing Nuclear Terrorism: Prospects for the Upcoming Summit.” In Washington, D.C., the Fissile Materials Working Group will host a talk on the prospects for the summit at noon Wednesday at the National Press Club.
- URS is set to hold a conference call March 3 at 5 p.m. eastern to discuss its 2013 fourth quarter and year-end results.
