LOOKING AHEAD

After a first attempt at a hearing was postponed during the government shutdown, the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee will hear testimony on the B61 life extension program and the future of the nation’s nuclear stockpile at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 2212 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Testifying at the hearing will be Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Strategic Affairs Madelyn Creedon, Strategic Command chief Gen. Robert Kehler, NNSA Defense Programs chief Don Cook, and Sandia National Laboratories Director Paul Hommert. 

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will vote at 10 a.m. Thursday on the nomination of Rose Gottemoeller to be Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security. The committee will also vote on the nominations of Frank Rose (Assistant Secretary of State for Verification and Compliance) and Adam Scheinman (Special Representative for Nuclear Nonproliferation) and other nominations.
