LOOKING AHEAD

Here are some of the events that we’ll be keeping track of this week:

  • Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) will offer his thoughts on nuclear deterrence, arms control and the nuclear triad at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Reserve Officers Association at One Constitution Avenue in Northeast Washington, D.C.
  • Former Defense Department official and current Center for Strategic and International Studies nuclear expert Frank Miller will speak about “Challenges to Achieving Strategic Stability” at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Capitol Hill Club in Southeast Washington, D.C.
  • Andrew Weber, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs, headlines a group of speakers on the “Role of Science Engagement in Reducing WMD Threats” at noon Wednesday at George Washington University’s State Room at 1957 E St. NW, Seventh Floor, Washington, D.C.
  • Acting Energy Secretary Dan Poneman will appear before the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee at 2:30 p.m. May 15 in Room 192 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
  • Oak Ridge officials will be in Washington Wednesday to address cleanup efforts at the site as part of the Nuclear Cleanup Caucus briefings. The briefings will take place at 3 p.m. in Room 1334 of the Longworth House Office Building.
