LOOKING AHEAD

Nuclear policy will be front-and-center during several Senate hearings this week. StratCom chief Gen. Robert Kehler will testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee at 9:30 Tuesday, while the Senate Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee will hold a hearing at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Defense Department’s nuclear forces and policies with several senior Pentagon leaders. Also: Jim Miller, the Obama Administration’s nominee to be Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, will appear before the Senate Armed Services Committee Thursday for his confirmation hearing. Also this week: 

  • The National Academy of Sciences will release its long-awaited report on technical issues facing the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty at 1:30 p.m. Friday during an event at the National Academies’ Keck Building in Washington, D.C.
  • The House Cleanup Caucus is scheduled to hold a safety overview briefing with EM Deputy Assistant Secretary for Safety & Security Program Matthew Moury on March 27 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Room 1539 of the Longworth House Office Building. On March 28, the House Cleanup Caucus is scheduled to hear a briefing on DOE’s Idaho site from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Room 1334 of the Longworth House Office Building.
