Longtime fed Hendrickson, now working as Canadian nuke lab exec

By Staff Reports

Randall Hendrickson, a former senior executive with the U.S. federal government, is now a vice president for Atkins Nuclear Secured in Canada, an Atkins spokesperson confirmed by email.

Hendrickson joined Atkins in late April and is at the Chalk River location of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories as a vice president for business management, the Atkins spokesperson said in a Friday reply to an Exchange Monitor inquiry

After retiring as a rear admiral from the U.S. Navy in 2015, Hendrickson worked in several upper management jobs for the Department of Energy and its National Nuclear Security Administration. He was most recently acting head of regulatory and policy matters for DOE’s Office of Environmental Management.

When he left the U.S. government in April, Hendrickson had indicated through a DOE spokesperson, he was leaving to take a job with private industry, but did not say where.

Hendrickson is the second top-tier executive with DOE’s cleanup office to jump to a nuclear lab manager job north of the border during the past three years.

Jeff Griffin left his post as head of DOE Environmental Management field operations in March 2020 to join Canadian National Laboratories, where he is now vice president of science and technology.

Atkins corporate parent, SNC-Lavalin, leads the Canadian National Energy Alliance team that runs the Canadian National Laboratories organization for Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, a federal Crown corporation with a mandate “to drive nuclear opportunities for Canada,” according to its website.
