Longenecker & Associates has hired a new executive to lead its mission assurance team as it increases its workload in that area at two Department of Energy sites.
Energy Department and nuclear navy veteran Craig Ferguson is now Longenecker’s group vice president for mission assurance, according to a Jan. 26 press release.
The Las Vegas-based consultant provides quality assurance, contractor assurance, and safety management to a number of DOE sites. As of 2018 that will include the Nevada National Security Site, as a subcontractor to new protective forces prime SOC; and the Los Alamos National Laboratory, as a sub to incoming Los Alamos National Laboratory cleanup lead Newport News Nuclear BWXT-Los Alamos.
Longenecker said its mission assurance team “is set to grow significantly in 2018” following those two subcontract wins. Further details were not immediately available.
Ferguson has since 2015 been an independent consultant for mission assurance and project management. He spent about seven years at DOE’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, Calif., finishing as associate lab director of infrastructure and safety. His career also included stops at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Newport News, Va., and the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn., along with close to 10 years with the U.S. Navy.
