Lisa Feldt has stepped into the position of Acting Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency following the departure of Bob Perciasepe early this month. Feldt served previously as associate Deputy Administrator for the EPA as well as Deputy Assistant Administrator in the agency’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER). Prior to her work in the EPA Feldt served for a time in the Department of Energy. “I have full confidence that she will be able to step in and carry the baton where Bob’s left off,” EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy said in prepared remarks to EPA staff early this month.
Perciasepe announced last month that he would be leaving the position to which he was appointed in 2009 to become the next president of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES). McCarthy commended Perciasepe’s work with the Agency, saying to him in her prepared remarks to staff members, “Bob, your service as Deputy Administrator has been legendary. You’ve worked tirelessly to improve the way EPA works so we can better meet the needs of the people we serve, especially people that need us most. And you’ve made it a better place to work for our EPA family. You’ve handled the hard times like a champion, you’ve helped EPA navigate two government-shutdowns, and you’ve jumped through hoops of fire countless times on Capitol Hill. It’s clear we would not be the agency we are today without you.”
