National Nuclear Security Administration and Department of Energy officials will be spending plenty of time on Capitol Hill this week with several hearings and speeches on tap:
- On Tuesday, Los Alamos Director Charlie McMillan, Sandia Director Paul Hommert and Livermore Director Parney Albright will testify before the Senate Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee along with Charles Shank, the co-chair of the National Academy of Sciences committee examining the quality of science and engineering at the labs. The hearing will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Russell Senate Office Building.
- Also on Tuesday, NNSA weapons chief Don Cook will speak at the Capitol Hill Club at 8 a.m. on “Sustaining the Nuclear Enterprise.”
- On Wednesday, acting NNSA Administrator Neile Miller, Cook, Naval Reactors director Adm. John Richardson, DOE Environmental Management chief David Huizenga and Government Accountability Office Natural Resources and Environment Director David Trimble will appear before Senate Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee at 2:30 p.m. in the Russell Senate Office Building.
- On Thursday, Miller and Strategic Command chief Gen. Robert Kehler will appear before the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee hearing along with Madelyn Creedon, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Strategic Affairs, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs John Harvey, Huizenga, and Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board Chairman Peter Winokur. The hearing will take place at 9 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building.
