IDAHO TREATMENT GROUP NAMES NEW BUSINESS MANAGER

By ExchangeMonitor

Norm Sandlin has been named the new Vice President for Business and Deputy Project Manager for Idaho Treatment Group, LLC, the managing contractor at the Idaho Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project. In the business manager role, Sandlin replaces Scott Raish, who abruptly left Babcock & Wilcox, the lead company in ITG, in April. Prior to coming over to ITG, Sandlin served as a Senior Business Manager with B&W Technical Services Group. "Norm has supported projects and programs with annual budgets ranging from $150 [million] to $600 [million] and is a recognized subject matter expert in the development and implementation of innovative strategies to effectively and efficiently achieve performance-based project delivery," ITG spokesman Rick Dale said in a written response yesterday.

Sandlin has some prior experience and history with the AMWTP, used to process transuranic and other types of waste for disposal, according to Dale. "Mr. Sandlin is very familiar with AMWTP having worked at Rocky Flats, where most of AMWTP’s stored waste came from. At Rocky Flats, he was responsible for managing all aspects of contract implementation and administration including all subcontracts. From 2003-2006, as a DOE-Headquarters based Special Assistant and Field Procurement Advisor, he was part of the DOE team that negotiated the purchase of AMWTP from BNFL," Dale said.
