The Russian federation informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that drone remains were found near the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, the agency said in a press release.
Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said he would assess the situation when he visits the site this week, and that he would discuss future activities, safety and security conditions then.
The IAEA said it was informed the drone was “suppressed” Aug. 22. It was located just over half a mile from the plant’s storage facility for spent nuclear fuel.
“Military activity in the vicinity of a nuclear power plant is a serious risk to nuclear safety and security,” Grossi said.
