Leaders of the House Armed Services Committee announced their subcommittee rosters for the 119th Congress this week in a joint press release.
Last week, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), returning as the chair of the House Armed Services Committee, announced the GOP subcommittee assignments. Friday, Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), returning ranking member of the committee, released the full roster with Rogers.
The Armed Services Committees in both chambers write the National Defense Authorization Act, which sets spending limits and policy for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and its bread-and-butter nuclear weapons programs.
Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) will return as the ranking member of the Strategic Forces subcommittee, on which Rep. Scott DeJarlais (R-Tenn.) was installed last week as the new chair. The Strategic Forces subcommittee has legislative oversight over NNSA, among other things.
For the Democrats, Reps. George Whitesides (D-Calif.) and Wesley Bell (D-Mo.) are the new members on the Strategic Forces subcommittee.
Leaving the strategic forces subcommittee are Reps. Donald Norcross (D-N.J.), Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), and Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.), all of whom will remain in the 119th Congress.
