The House Appropriations Committee will mark up Tuesday a bill that would authorize a 2% year-over-year raise for the National Nuclear Security Administration and keep nuclear-weapons cleanup at the Department of Energy about flat in fiscal year 2025.
The full-committee markup was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Eastern time in the Rayburn House Office Building, room 2359.
The House Appropriations energy and water development subcommittee released bill language on June 27, before passing the legislation to the full House by voice vote.
If signed, the bill would give the National Nuclear Security Administration about $25 billion for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1.
That including more than $20 billion for the agency’s Weapons Activities, or $500 million above the request and more than $1 billion above the 2024 total for the account. Within that, there is $840 million for the Uranium Processing Facility, well above the requested $800 million.
Meanwhile, the bill would also provide $8.3 billion for DOE’s Office of Environmental Management, down about $160 million from this year.
