Comprehensive Decommissioning International, a new joint venture of SNC-Lavalin of Montreal and Holtec International of Camden, N.J., plans to seek reactor decommissioning work, the companies said in a statement Wednesday.
Comprehensive Decommissioning International (CDI) will be based in Camden, according to a joint press release.
The companies, which did not immediately reply to requests for comment Wednesday, did not release information on the specific decommissioning projects CDI will pursue.
SNC-Lavalin is already working with Holtec on a joint venture to design a 160-megawatt small modular reactor. This design has not yet been submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
“We will leverage our used fuel storage and transport expertise, now in use by 110 nuclear reactors around the world, to pave the way for what we call prompt decommissioning,” Kris Singh, president of Holtec, said in the press release.
