Liddell Named Carbon Capture & Storage Association President

By ExchangeMonitor

Baroness Helen Liddell has been named honorary president of the U.K.’s Carbon Capture & Storage Association, a position held by Lord Ronald Oxburgh for the last decade, the association announced last week. Liddell has previously held several positions in government including; economic secretary to the Treasury, minister of state for energy and competitiveness in Europe, and secretary of state for Scotland.

“The CCSA has benefitted over many years from the sound advice of Lord Oxburgh, and it is a privilege to take over from him. These are challenging times for Carbon Capture and Storage and I look forward to working to ensure that we develop this vital technology which will benefit both industry and the environment,” Liddell said in a CCSA release.

The CCSA was founded in 2006 to represent the interests of its members who represent all areas of CCS, including manufacturing and processing, power generation, engineering and contracting, oil, gas and minerals as well as a wide range of support services to the energy sector such as law, banking, insurance, consultancy and project management.
