HANFORD MISSION SUPPORT CONTRACTOR TO LAY OFF 36

By ExchangeMonitor

Mission Support Alliance and its key subcontractors are laying off a total of 36 Hanford employees after expecting to cut up to 50 jobs this month. The layoffs include 12 previously approved voluntary layoffs, plus 11 involuntary union worker layoffs and 13 involuntary nonunion worker layoffs. However, eight of the union employees have seniority to take other positions at Hanford, bumping the employees who now hold those jobs. The layoffs will leave Mission Support Alliance at 1,695 employees. This is its third round of layoffs in the last 12 months, with 125 positions cut in March and 276 positions cut in September. Those earlier cuts were part of about 2,000 layoffs among Hanford contractors sitewide in 2011. The latest round of layoffs is to align staff with work Mission Support Alliance expects to do this year.
