Unionized metal workers for most major vendors at the U.S. Energy Department’s Hanford Site in Washington state on Wednesday approved a one-year extension to their current labor contracts.
The Hanford Atomic Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) said in a Facebook post that workers at Mission Support Alliance, Jacobs subsidiary CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation, Veolia, and Washington River Protection Solutions all approved the deal that includes a 2.5% pay increase.
No actual vote totals were posted on the Facebook page for the umbrella group that handles contract talks for 14 metal unions that represent workers in maintenance-type work at Hanford. The labor agreement covers somewhere between 2,500 and 2,800 union members.
The Hanford Atomic Metal Trades Council is part of the Metal Trades Department of the AFL-CIO. The council announced Oct. 14 that its bargaining committee had reached a tentative agreement with the companies after about a week of talks.
Union leaders discussed the agreement during informational meetings with members Oct. 30, according to the social media site.
Leidos and Centerra Group make up Mission Support Alliance, which provides road maintenance, security, and landlord-type services throughout Hanford. AECOM and Atkins comprise Washington River Protection Solutions, which oversees 56 million gallons of radioactive waste left over from decades of plutonium production. Veolia tests waste samples and provides analytical services at the 222-S Laboratory. CH2M is the environmental remediation vendor for Hanford’s Central Plateau, including demolition of the Plutonium Finishing Plant.
