Leidos-led Hanford Mission Integration Solutions, the contractor for roads, grounds and essential infrastructure-related chores at the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site, appointed Todd Synoground acting chief operations officer.
Synoground, listed as senior vice president of infrastructure and site services on the contractor’s website, will step in as acting operations chief with Amy Basche moving up to acting president. Synoground’s new role was confirmed by a Hanford Mission spokesperson via email to Exchange Monitor Monday.
Hanford Mission also announced the new duties for Basche and Synoground in a recent Instagram post.
Synoground joined the prior Leidos-led contractor, Mission Support Alliance, in 2016 and has nearly 37 years of Hanford experience, the spokesperson said in the email.
The appointment as acting chief operations officer is part of the ripple effect from last week’s announcement that Hanford Mission Integration Solutions President Bob Wilkinson is leaving that job to become president of Amentum-led Central Plateau Cleanup, the prime environmental remediation contractor at Hanford.
Central Plateau Cleanup President John Eschenberg is leaving the position by July 30 and will take another post within Amentum that will be announced later.
Wilkinson was to start July 8 at Central Plateau Central. He will assume top management duties there by the end of the month, the contractor said.
Hanford Mission Integration Solutions consists of Leidos, Centerra and Parsons. The team has a $4-billion Essential Services contract at Hanford. The five-year base period ends in August 2025.
Hanford Mission is currently being sued by the U.S. Department of Justice in federal court in Washington state. The case was triggered by a whistleblower’s allegation of overbilling for fire protection services at Hanford.
