Hanford contractor settles discrimination claim with 151 job applicants

By ExchangeMonitor

A Hanford contractor and the U.S. Department of Labor agreed for the company to pay 151 Hispanic job applicants $157,621 for not complying with federal non-discrimination regulations, Labor announced last week.

In a press release and other records, the federal department said Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) discriminated in 2019 against Latino applicants to become health physics technician trainees. The labor department said statistical analysis showed that at least more Hispanic applicants should have been hired

“Federal contractors are obliged to provide all applicants with equal employment opportunities to make certain all workers have a fair shot at getting and keeping good paying jobs,” said Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs Regional Director Jane Suhr in a press release on Thursday.

WRPS did not admit liability in the agreement, but it did agree to pay the $157,621 to the affected job seekers and to make job offers to eligible applicants.
