Global CCS Institute Names New Americas Division General Manager

By Chris Schneidmiller
Jeff Erikson has been appointed general manager of the Americas division of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute, the organization announced today. “Jeff’s vast knowledge of sustainability issues across a broad range of industries, coupled with his expertise in the business implications of global climate change, will be a valuable asset to the Institute, its members and CCS stakeholders as we work together to accelerate the development and deployment of CCS technologies to help meet our global climate change challenge,” Global CCS Institute CEO Brad Page said in a press release.

Erikson comes to the institute from SustainAbility, a global think tank and strategic advisory firm where he served as senior vice president. He also worked for more than a decade at Mobil Oil and Exxon Corp. He replaces former interim General Manager Victor Der, who will stay with the institute as executive adviser for the Americas. “Jeff joins the Institute at an exciting time for the global CCS (carbon capture and storage) industry, with the U.S. and Canada firmly in the spotlight.  Five of the next seven large-scale integrated projects, anticipated to become operational within the next 18 months, are in the Americas and demonstrate the region’s significant commitment to developing CCS at scale,” Page said.
