Fuel Services Chief Vexler Is Orano’s New CEO

By ExchangeMonitor

Amir Vexler, president of Orano USA’s nuclear fuel services subsidiary, became CEO of the company this week, according to a press release.

In addition to his new role as the company’s top manager, Vexler will continue to serve as president of TN Americas, Orano’s subsidiary company that handles spent fuel management and transportation, the Monday press release said.

Sam Shakir, Orano USA’s outgoing executive, is leaving “to pursue opportunities outside the company,” the statement said.

Vexler joined the Paris-based company’s U.S. division in 2019 when he became president of TN Americas. Prior to that, he served in executive roles at Global Nuclear Fuel, GE Hitachi, and the former GE Canada Nuclear Products.

Vexler steps into his role as Orano, partnered with Waste Control Specialists (WCS), is seeking federal permission to build a consolidated interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel at WCS’s existing low-level repository in Andrews County, Texas.

The proposed site is currently the subject of an environmental review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which the agency has said will be done this summer.
