The Department of Energy’s award to a BWX Technologies-led joint venture of the new remediation contract for the West Valley Demonstration Project in New York continues positive procurement news for the Lynchburg, Va., nuclear services company.
The company was scheduled to discuss its third quarter financial results Monday at 5 p.m. Eastern Time in a conference call after markets close.
Last week, the DOE’s Office of Environmental Management chose West Valley Cleanup Alliance, partnership of BWX Technologies (BWXT) and a Jacobs affiliate, for the West Valley cleanup contract. The business is potentially worth $3 billion over 10 years and comes on the heels of a much larger contract at the Hanford Site in Washington state.
Last week, a Federal Claims Court judge refused to reconsider her September order upholding a $45-billion award to a BWXT-led contractor for the Hanford Integrated Tank Waste contract.
BWXT also recently won business to help DOE convert high-assay low-enriched uranium into a form usable as nuclear reactor fuel.
This summer, BWXT-led PanTeXas Deterrence was awarded the National Nuclear Security Administration management contract for the Pantex Plant in Texas. The contract turned over last week.
