Department of Energy contractor Strategic Management Solutions Inc. (SMSI) has hired industry veteran Matthew Nuckols for the newly created position of executive vice president.
A civil engineer, Nuckols has 25 years of project and program management experience at sites within the Energy Department’s Office of Environmental Management and semiautonomous National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) complexes, SMSI said in a Tuesday press release.
Nuckols, who joined the Albuquerque, N.M.-based firm on June 1, has held management posts at Bechtel and the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. Most recently, he was project manager for contractor Consolidated Nuclear Security on construction of the $4 billion Main Process Building for the Uranium Processing Facility at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He will continue to work out of the Oak Ridge area.
“Matt brings his deep understanding of the industry to help SMSI with its current commitments and prepare for the future,” SMSI President David O’Flynn said in the release.
Strategic Management Solutions’ portfolio includes work at Y-12, the Nevada National Security Site, Los Alamos — where it is part of a small-business joint-venture subcontractor to the prime, Triad — the Savannah River Site in South Carolina, and other DOE sites.
