Mark Menezes, who was deputy secretary of energy under President Donald Trump, will become the United States Energy Association’s new president and chief executive officer, the organization said Friday.
Menezes will become the top boss at the U.S. Energy Association (USEA) June 15, replacing acting executive director Sheila Hollis, who has led the group since longtime chief Barry Worthington died in August 2023, according to a Friday press release.
“Mark has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector including his work in the private sector and his service with Congress and in the executive branch,” Vicky Bailey, executive chair of the USEA board, said in the release.
In addition to deputy secretary of energy, Menezes has served as chief counsel for the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Energy and Environment subcommittee, according to the press release. In the private sector, he has been a senior official with Berkshire Hathaway Energy, American Electric Power, and was a law partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth.
USEA picked Menezes after a national search led by Spencer Stuart, an executive search firm, the trade group said in the release.
The USEA, formed in 1924 is made up of more than 100 domestic and international organizations, government agencies, nonprofits, think tanks, educational institutions, and Fortune 500 companies, according to its website.
