The Exchange Monitor was set to kick off its 15th annual Nuclear Deterrence Summit this week in Crystal City, Va., where senior leaders in government and industry were scheduled to speak about major nuclear modernization programs.
Following an afternoon professional workshop on Monday, Jill Hruby, the administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), was scheduled to give the summit’s opening keynote address at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Senior leaders from the NNSA’s major nuclear-weapons labs, plants and sites were scheduled to speak on Tuesday and Wednesday. Marvin Adams, the NNSA’s deputy administrator for defense programs, was scheduled to discuss the agency’s program to produce plutonium pits late Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Air Force and Navy officers were on the schedule for Wednesday afternoon, along with senior civilian officials from the Pentagon.
The unclassified summit is open to the media.
