Energy secretary Granholm, IAEA chief Grossi to hold joint press conference

The heads of both the U.S. Department of Energy and the United Nations’ nuclear power authority were scheduled Wednesday to speak with reporters at an international conference held in Washington, D.C.

Energy secretary Jennifer Granholm and Rafael Grossi, director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), are set to hold a joint press conference following the opening session of IAEA’s annual Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century.

The three-day event will feature panel discussions featuring Granholm and Grossi, as well as other notable figures such as DOE’s Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy Kathryn Huff, Nuclear Energy Agency director William Magwood and TerraPower founder Bill Gates, who will participate via video.

A livestream of event proceedings can be found on the IAEA website. The conference begins Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. Eastern time.
