DUF6 CONTRACTOR EARNS BULK OF FEE FOR RECENT EVALUATION PERIOD

By ExchangeMonitor

B&W Conversion Services, LLC, which operates the Department of Energy’s two depleted uranium hexafluoride conversion plants, earned the bulk of the available fee in its last evaluation period, according to information DOE released yesterday. For the period of March 29, 2011 to Sept. 30, 2012, BWCS earned approximately $3.7 million out of an available $4.3 million. BWCS’ fee included $1.6 million out of an available $.2.2 million in award fee; and $2.1 million out of an available $3.4 million in fee tied to performance-based incentives. BWCS “met the majority of performance goals and objectives for this period,” DOE said in an award fee determination scorecard. “Significant achievements include multiple simultaneous line operation of each plant, maintaining a safety conscious work environment with DART and TRC rates below goals, safe handling of over 1 million gallons of hydrofluoric acid and prompt performance of cylinder transfers to support DOE initiatives.” The full scorecard can be found here.
