The National Nuclear Security Administration is expected to release a draft Request for Proposals for its combined Oak Ridge/Pantex protective force contract “on or about” Wednesday and will hold a presolicitation conference, site visit, and one-on-one meetings in mid-May, the agency said yesterday. The agency announced plans late last year to merge the protective force contracts at Pantex, Y-12 and the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office after stripping protective force work from its combined Y-12/Pantex management and operating contract, but had been mum on its plans since releasing a Request for Information Dec. 6.
The presolicitation conference and site visit will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15 at the Pantex Plant, while one-on-one meetings will be held at the Y-12 National Security Complex and DOE Oak Ridge Office all day May 17. “Further details will follow upon the release of the draft RFP,” the agency said. The NNSA said it expects to save money by combining the protective force work under one contract, especially in areas like administration and human resources.
