DOE’s Friedmann Heading Back to His Roots

By ExchangeMonitor

Julio Friedmann, who has served in various roles in the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy since August 2013, officially left his post Tuesday to head back to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he served as chief energy technologist until his appointment to DOE.

Since March 2015, Friedmann served as principal deputy assistant secretary for the Office of Fossil Energy. Before that, Friedmann served as the department’s deputy assistant secretary for clean coal and carbon management.

Back at Lawrence Livermore, Friedmann will “continue to work on clean energy technologies,” an Office of Fossil Energy spokesman told GHG Daily by email.  Doug Hollett, currently deputy assistant secretary for renewable power in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, will replace Friedmann this month.
