DOE VALIDATES IDAHO TREATMENT GROUP’S ISMS

By ExchangeMonitor

Idaho Treatment Group, LLC, the managing contractor for the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project, passed the Phase 2 validation of its Integrated Safety Management System late last week. The purpose of the Phase 2 validation, performed by the Department of Energy, was to verify that the procedures and policies reviewed in Phase 1 are in place. “The ISMS Review team reviewed ITG documents and procedures, interviewed personnel, observed work activities and determined the ITG has developed and implemented an ISMS program for its operations at the AMWTP. Based on the review results and ITG’s response to identified issues, the ISM Review Team concluded safety was systematically integrated into its management and work practices, processes and organizational culture but improvements are needed,” ITG President and Project Manager Danny Nichols said in a message to employees, citing the ISMS team’s outbrief. “By adhering to our values and showing how we perform work in a safe, compliant, conservative manner, every ITG employee played a role in this superb, positive outcome,” Nichols said.
