DOE to award National Training Center management contract ‘by August’

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy said it is still reviewing the latest small business proposals it got to manage the National Training Center in New Mexico and planned an award no sooner than August.

In 2023, three small businesses protested the Department of Energy’s (DOE) 2022 award to Eagle Harbor to manage the National Training Center in Albuquerque, N.M. That kicked off a new competition and, on April 30, an extension until Aug. 5 for incumbent Kupono Government Services.

In an email Tuesday, a DOE spokesperson declined to provide a timetable for transitioning the site to new management but said that the agency “plans to make an award by August 2024.”

If DOE awards the contract in August, it will have taken about four years to turn the work over to a new contractor. The agency solicited bids in 2020.
