Department of Energy Savannah River Operations Office Manager David Moody has announced plans to retire in June after a 36-year career. “Dr. Moody’s leadership at the Savannah River Site (SRS) over the last four years has resulted in tremendous achievements for the cleanup of the site,” DOE Office of Environmental Management Acting Assistant Secretary said in a Nov. 21 message to employees. That includes a 75 percent reduction in the site footprint, closure of four high level waste tanks, new missions for the H-Canyon facility and maximized production of vitrified waste canisters, Whitney noted. Before Savannah River, Moody previously was DOE Carlsbad Field Office Manager for five years and before that held several different positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
