DOE Nuclear Cleanup Biz Opportunities Forum Set Later This Month

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management is planning one of its occasional business opportunities forums via Zoom in a little more than two weeks.

The session is set to commence at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on June 24 and should wrap up in less than 90 minutes, according to a notice posted Monday on a federal procurement website. There will be a discussion on the status of current and upcoming procurement opportunities at the $7-billion-plus Office of Environmental Management (EM).

To pre-register and receive the connection details, email Anne Marie Bird of DOE’s Cincinnati-based Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center by June 22 at [email protected]. Bird is also the EM contract person for any advance questions about the forum.

“We are cordially inviting you to join us for this virtual forum to learn about the latest news on doing business with the Office of Environmental Management,” according to the online notice.

The contract people at EM have been busy lately. Last week, the office issued the final request for proposals for a potential 10-year, $3-billion contract for management of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, N.M. The current business is owned by Nuclear Waste Partnership, an Amentum-BWX Technologies partnership, under a contract valued at $2.7-billion. Work under the pact began in October 2012 and is scheduled to run through September.

Two weeks ago, DOE awarded Jacobs-led Idaho Environmental Coalition a cleanup contract over four other bidders at the Idaho National Laboratory that could be worth $6.4 billion over 10 years. The incumbent for the bulk of the Idaho cleanup is Fluor Idaho, which has a $2.2-billion contract from June 2016 that is currently scheduled to end Sept. 30. Spectra Tech, which has a $53-million standalone contract for spent fuel management currently set to expire in September, is a member of the Jacobs-led team.

No contract challenges were posted in that award early Tuesday by the Government Accountability Office. Debrief sessions are expected for bidders this week, a source said.
