DOE MAY COMBINE PADUCAH, PORTSMOUTH INFRASTRUCTURE CONTRACTS

The Department of Energy is considering combining the infrastructure support services contracts for the Portsmouth and Paducah sites, according to a sources sought notice posted yesterday for the Portsmouth contract.  The work is currently being performed under two separate contracts, and DOE last month released a sources sought notice for the Paducah work. The Portsmouth notice posted yesterday asks interested companies to “discuss the potential benefits and drawbacks associated with a single solicitation and/or multiple solicitations and a single award and/or multiple awards contract for these types of infrastructure support services.”

Portsmouth incumbent contractor Wastren-EnergX Mission Support, LLC, has a contract that expires in July 2015, while Paducah infrastructure firm Swift & Staley, LLC,’s period runs out in March 2015. DOE is weighing whether to continue with a small business size standard of $35.5 million for the contract or to switch to a size standard of 500 employees, according to the Portsmouth sources sought notice. Responses to the Portsmouth notice are due on Dec. 23.
