The Department of Energy has begun conducting market research for its upcoming procurement for new cleanup contracts at the Idaho site once the current ones expire at the end of Fiscal Year 2015. Late last week, DOE issued a request for information seeking “feedback from contractors and other interested parties regarding options for innovative approaches for the performance of scope elements as well as insight into potential contracting alternatives to achieve the EM goals at the Idaho site post FY 2015.” DOE is also seeking information to help determine what work, if any, can be set aside for small businesses. All capability statements should be sent to [email protected] by Dec. 20.
The planned work to be performed at the Idaho site post-FY 2015 is expected to include spent nuclear fuel, solid waste management, D&D, environmental activities, site infrastructure and the Calcine Disposition Project. This week, DOE is holding an industry day in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on the planned Idaho cleanup procurement. Information on the industry day—including an agenda and draft presentations—as well as the request for information can be found here.
