DOE EXTENDS PROPOSAL DEADLINE FOR NEW WIPP LOADING CONTRACT

By ExchangeMonitor
Companies interested in the Department of Energy’s new contract to provide mobile loading services for transuranic waste at various generator sites now have an extra week to prepare their bids, with the proposal deadline moved to May 17 from May 10. The extension, which will be included in a forthcoming amendment to the Request for Proposals for the new contract, was outlined in a set of questions-and-answers DOE released last week.

The new contract, which is being competed as an 8(a) set-aside, is set to be a cost-plus-fixed-fee-type that will run for up to for up to five years, consisting of a three-year base period and two one-year option periods. Work to be performed under the contract will center on loading transuranic waste containers for shipment to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, including providing qualified personnel to perform the physical loading of contact- and remote-handled transuranic waste into licensed and approved packages at various generator sites.
