The Department of Energy late last week announced a six-month extension of the infrastructure support services contract at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Ohio. Current contractor Wastren-EnergX Mission Support will continue to work the contact that had originally been set to expire on July 25. The extension is valued at about $17.4 million. According to a DOE release, the extension enables a more competitive procurement. “Today’s contract extension, valued at approximately $17.4 million, is intended to accommodate DOE’s current competitive procurement process for a new infrastructure contract,” DOE said in a release. “This action will allow selection, contract award and transition to the new contract to occur without interruptions of ongoing services.”
According to a DOE spokesperson, “The new Portsmouth Infrastructure Support Services contract is on schedule and anticipated to be awarded in the August-October 2015 time frame.” Among the responsibilities included in the contract are: surveillance, maintenance and repair of facilities, janitorial services, grounds maintenance, fleet management, real and personal property management; records management and document control; safeguards and security; environment, safety, health, and quality (ESH&Q) program; and training services.
