By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy took a small step toward competing the Brookhaven National Laboratory contract yesterday, unveiling a website for the procurement. DOE has not released any information about its plans for the contract since issuing a sources sought notice in April, but it is believed to be crafting a draft Request for Proposals that is likely to be released before the end of the year. The current contract held by Brookhaven Science Associates, a partnership between Battelle Memorial Alliance and Stony Brook University, expires Jan. 4, 2015. The competition would represent the first DOE lab competition in more than five years. In the April Sources Sought notice, DOE said a competition for the new contract would “result in improved contractor performance and cost efficiencies at BNL.” The website can be found at http://bnlcompetition.science.energy.gov.
