DOE Environmental Management COVID cases continue to decline

By ExchangeMonitor

This past week there were only 65 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management, down from 82 the prior week, according to an agency spokesperson.

By comparison only a month ago, with the nation still experiencing a surge in the highly transmissible Omicron variant, there were 775 cases within the Environmental Management nuclear cleanup complex.

The falling numbers comes as DOE seeks this month to return more federal and contractor staff back to their pre-pandemic workstations. But while the agency is paring back telecommuting, remote work is expected to remain more prevalent than it was in early 2020, before COVID-19 started to spread across the nation.
