The deputy director of the Department of Energy’s Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center has taken over as acting director.
The vacancy newly filled on an interim basis by Jeffrey Kash Grimes was created by the December retirement of Ralph Holland following a 22-year career at DOE.
Grimes has since May 2016 served as deputy director for EMCBC, which manages contract procurements for DOE’s Office of Environmental Management, according to his LinkedIn profile. As acting director, he oversees a staff of 175.
Grimes previously was a captain the U.S. Navy, working most recently in its Supply Corps. His last Navy assignment was deputy assistant commander for contracts at the Naval Air Systems Command, where he managed a staff of more than 800 people and oversaw several billion dollars in contracts.
The website did not indicate how long Grimes has been in the acting role. The Office of Environmental Management did not comment by press time.
