DOE cleanup branch starts market research on potential cyber security contract

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management is commencing market research for its cyber security needs in Cincinnati and Washington, D.C.

In a May 30 notice, DOE issued a request for information for technology and cyber security needs at the cleanup office’s Washington, D.C., headquarters and the Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center in Ohio. The agency could add other locations as well.

Government agencies will continue to strengthen their cyber requirements in the coming years, a former DOE chief information officer told Exchange Monitor’s Radwaste Summit last week in Louisville.

The cleanup office wants potential providers to file capability statements by June 20 on their ability to provide all or some of the desired cyber work. DOE Environmental Management is also using the feedback to determine if some of the services can be provided by small businesses.

The agency is interested in “creative solutions” and advice “on matters related to information systems, services, and tools to ensure compliance with Departmental policies and procedures,” according to the request for information.

No performance work statement is available yet, DOE said, given the preliminary stage of the inquiry.

Capability statements and questions should be emailed to DOE contract officer Tad Lyons by June 20 at [email protected].
