The Department of Energy late last week awarded a nearly $4 million firm fixed price contract to CTI and Associates for demolition services at Oak Ridge’s K-732 switchyard in the East Tennessee Technology Park. The contract for the minority owned business falls under the 8(a) program. The contract also includes recycling of materials, as well as two options. “The optional work for site characterization (Option 1) involves obtaining and testing samples of soil and other excavated materials to determine what, if any, levels of contamination are present at the site,” according to a DOE release. “The optional work for soil remediation (Option 2) involves removal of contaminated surface gravel and subsurface soils and replacing with clean material.”
