DOE AWARDS LLW/MLLW CONTRACTS FOR ENERGYSOLUTIONS, WCS

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy late last week awarded both EnergySolutions and Waste Control Specialists fixed-price unit rate Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity multiple-award contracts for the permanent disposal of low-level and mixed low-level waste. The contracts would run for five years and include Contract Line Item Numbers for federal waste streams including: Class A, B and C low-level radioactive waste, mixed low-level waste, 11e(2) byproduct material, depleted uranium, TENORM, and sealed sources. Previously, DOE had executed separate contracts for LLRW and MLLW. “The goal of these contracts is to establish a vehicle that allows DOE sites to place timely, competitive and cost-effective task orders,” DOE wrote in a release April 12. “Task orders placed under this ID/IQ contract may be for the disposal of multiple waste types. EnergySolutions, LLC and Waste Control Specialists, LLC will fairly compete for future ID/IQ task orders which will have fixed price unit rates with economic price adjustments for appropriate taxes and fees.”
