DNFSB Sending Two Inspectors on New Assignments to Y-12

By ExchangeMonitor

The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) is sending two of its technical staffers on new assignments to the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Matthew Duncan will become Oak Ridge resident inspector on Aug. 20, while Brandon Weathers will become an Oak Ridge resident inspector in December, the independent nuclear health-and-safety watchdog announced in separate press releases.

Duncan, a DNFSB technical staffer since 2000, was previously technical staff lead for safety oversight at sites including: the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California; Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico and California; the Transuranic Waste Facility at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico; the Uranium Processing Facility at Y-12; National Nuclear Security Administration tritium facilities at three locations; and the Salt Waste Processing Facility at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.

Weathers, with the DNFSB since 2016, was most recently the board’s Y-12 Cognizant Engineer. Prior to joining the DNFSB, Weathers worked for engineering consultancy MPR Associates, of Alexandria, Va., and Atlanta-based utility Southern Co.
